Last Friday was my last day in the Coast Guard. I handed over command of Cutter Grand Isle to my relief, retired, and am now traveling for a month or so before beginning my sailing adventures. I had Alana alongside the cutter for the Change of Command and gave some thought to literally sailing off into the sunset after the ceremony, but in the end it just proved impractical. Jessica and I sailed away the next day, motored actually as there was no wind, and now my 24+ years in the CG are fading into the past. I look forward to having some real adventures to relate in the near future.
